Tide Water Oil Co (I) Ltd. (TWO) was incorporated in the year 1928 in Kolkata as a member of the Andrew Yule Group of Companies. Being a Managing Agency House, it was logical for a conglomerate like Andrew Yule & Co Ltd to have its own Group Company for lubricants also. The Company started its operations initially at Ramkristopur , Howrah, primarily to meet the requirements of the Group Companies of Andrew Yule & Co Ltd. Thereafter, the Company has over the years set up 4 more Plants all over India at Royapuram (Chennai), Deonar (Mumbai), Silvassa (Dadra & Nagar Haveli) and Faridabad (Haryana). Today TWO is one of the few Companies in India who have its own Plants spread over the length and breadth of the country. While the Silvassa Plant is fully automated using programmable logic controllers, (the latest international technology of Fisher Rosement has been adopted), the other Plants of the Company have been upgraded suitably. The Company's Plants at Silvassa and Royapuram have obtained accreditation of ISO 9001 - 2000 quality standards. The Silvassa Plant has obtained accreditation under ISO 14001 standard also. The Company has the capability to manufacture products required for both automotive and industrial applications. In order to develop and market the latest products and deploy the latest technology the Company has two R&D Centres - at Deonar for lubricating oils and Royapuram for lubricating greases. The Dept. of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi recognizes both the above R&D Centres. In addition, the Company has entered into Technical Collaboration with Nippon Oil Corporation, Japan (the largest petroleum company in Japan) for manufacture of ENEOS range of engine lubricants.
